FixPilot ("we," "us," "our," or "Company") operates the FixPilot mobile application (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

• Email address — used for account creation, login, and password recovery
• Hashed password — securely stored, never visible to our team

Home Information

• Home type (house, apartment, condo, etc.)
• Age range of home
• Foundation type
• Address (optional) — used for property-specific diagnosis
• Additional details (roof type, heating/cooling system, number of bedrooms, etc.)

Messages and Media

• Chat messages — descriptions of your home repair issues
• Photos — images of the problem area you upload for diagnosis
• Voice recordings — audio recordings describing the issue

Diagnostic Data

• Repair problem domain (plumbing, electrical, drywall, roof, etc.)
• Diagnostic findings and action plans generated by our system

2. How We Use Your Information

FixPilot uses the information we collect for the following purposes:

• Diagnosis & Repair Planning — to understand your home repair issue and provide accurate diagnoses and action plans
• AI Processing — your messages, photos, and home details are sent to third-party AI providers (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI GPT) solely for generating diagnoses and repair guidance
• Account Management — to authenticate you, manage your account, and allow case history access
• Service Improvement — to analyze usage patterns and improve diagnostic accuracy (only in anonymized form)

3. Third-Party AI Processing

To diagnose your home repair issues, your messages, photos, and home details are processed by:

• Anthropic (Claude) — for initial triage, narrowing questions, and final diagnosis
• OpenAI (GPT) — for optional shopping list generation and property enrichment

These AI providers process your data according to their own privacy policies. We recommend reviewing their terms:

4. Data Storage & Security

• Your case data, messages, and media are stored in our PostgreSQL database hosted on Render
• Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms and never stored in plain text
• All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS encryption
• We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical security measures to protect your data

5. Data Deletion

You may request deletion of your account and all associated case data at any time by contacting us at privacy@fixpilot.app. We will delete your data within 30 days of verified request. Some anonymized diagnostic logs may be retained for service improvement purposes.

6. Children's Privacy

FixPilot is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will promptly delete such information. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided information to FixPilot, please contact us immediately.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. Your continued use of the Service following the posting of changes means you accept those changes.

8. Third-Party Services

FixPilot uses the following third-party services:

• Render — cloud hosting for our backend API and database
• Anthropic & OpenAI — AI processing (as described above)
• Expo — mobile app framework and build services

We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of these services for their own data practices.

9. International Users

If you are accessing FixPilot from the European Union, United Kingdom, or other jurisdictions with data protection regulations, your information will be processed according to those laws. For EU residents, you may have additional rights under GDPR, including the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data.
